For my part, I would never have patience to read a novel. I would prefer watching some movie or TV series.

For those movies I love, I would replay it, and do something else at the same time, just listen.

Well, i don't know which kind of method could apply to you.
My foreign teacher just suggest me to start from the Chinese edition. Haste makes waste.
If you are qualified to comrehend the abstract of the English edition, you may start from it.
Or else, start from Chinese edition, then to the original one.
