It depends the guy you meet, whatever you or they want to talk, if you wish, is OK.

Just talk to them like you would talk to your friends. Start with greetings, then talk about work, about family and daily life. However, you must be sincere, soft talking and polite. Don't worry about your ability in English. They know it is not your main language so they won't expect you to be too good in it. Most likely they would help you in talking.

i am an english major student and i often communicate with foreigners.when we meet each other the first time i usually say some greetings to them to show my welcome ,then i will talk about  culture of the  country where they  come from,more detail you can get,just add my friend.welcome you to my blog at all the times.

i have made a lot of foreign friends,just as you say,we talk about the different culture between Ameira and China,the daliy life,the hobbies and so on.
