　　Given is a thought-provoking cartoon: a young guy tells his father that he is a bit worried about disposing of nuclear waste; however, his father informs the guy of a truth: if one can empty the dustbin, he can do anything.

　　Obviously, this cartoon can be naturally associated with the significant relationship between doing small things and undertaking something big: if one intends to undertake greater responsibility, it is advisable for him to begin with small tasks. In contemporary society, it has become a trend for many youngsters to enjoy talking big. In the meanwhile, an increasing number of young people deem it useless to do small things, like cleaning dorms, washing clothes and so on. However, it is small tasks that enable one to build up adequate experience, knowledge and skills to conquer big ones. As a vital part awareness, doing small things brings us power, arouses our sense of responsibility and helps us to be prepared for something big. 　　The cartoon aims at informing us of the phenomenonthat quite a few students or youngsters are reluctant to read literaturenowadays. With the Internet and electronic communication tools such asmicroblogs, mobile phones and QQ becoming increasingly widespread, quite a fewpeople are more used to reading short context. They hold that, compared withlong contents such as literature, these short ones are more convenient and timesaving. What’s more, many students refuse to read literature in that theybelieve that literature is boring and of little use in modern society。
