The earliest coins in the world were used in Chinamore than 3,000 years ago. Coins maybe havedifferent sizes, weights, shapes and different metals.Usually, they have different designs on the two sides.There is usually the head of famous person on oneside. Today, the coin is pressed with the name of thecountry, the date and its value. In the past, manythings could be used for money, such as seashells,rings,bamboo sticks and so on. The earliest coins in the west were made of gold mixed withsilver. Many collections of coins have beendiscovered. The largest collection found in Englandcontained about 200,000 silver pennies that was 600 yearsold.
