Watching TV or Reading Books,Which Brings UsMore Benefits?
看電視和看書，哪個對我們更有益?
Since the invention of television，more and morepeople have fallen back on TV for information andentertainment instead of reading books.We can notdeny the fact that TV does have its advantages withits audio-visual effects.But personally speaking，Ibelieve that reading books is more beneficial thanwatching TV.
不能夠否認的是，由于電視的視覺效果，電視的優勢更加明顯。但是我認為，讀書的益處要大于看電視。
To begin with, reading is an active process while watching TV is a passive one.When reading abook,the reader has freedom in controlling the speed and pace, but as far as TV programs areconcerned, this is barelypossible.Moreover, reading fiction sets free the reader’s imaginationand makes him actively participate and anticipate what is happening and what will happennext,while watching TV, for the most part, makes people passive receivers of what is given inthe programs,let alone the frequent interruptions by the commercials that attempt to sellunneeded products every 5 minutes.Furthermore, reading is more a learning process than anentertaining one.Through reading books,people improve their literacy and acquireskills.WatchingTV often gives nothing but an entertaining story.
首先，讀書是積極過程，而看電視是消極過程。當人們閱讀時，讀者能夠自由掌握速度，但是對于電視節目來說，這幾乎是不可能的。此外，閱讀科幻作品能夠激發人們的想象力，人們更能夠積極地參與到即將發生的故事情節當中。看電視時，人們總是被動地接受事情，更不要說電視觀眾還經常被每隔5分鐘的商業廣告而干擾。此外，比起娛樂性質，閱讀更是一次學習過程。通過閱讀，我們能夠提升文學修養，獲得知識。除了娛樂故事，我們不能夠從電視中得到任何信息。
From all the points mentioned above, clearly I am a true believer in the enormous value ofreading and sincerely hope people, especially the children, become avid readers rather thandevoted TV viewers.
總之，我堅信讀書能夠給我們帶來許多的好處，我非常希望，特別是兒童能夠多看書，而不是成為電視的忠實觀眾。
