6.1 A lot of people believe that television has aharmful effect on children. A few years ago, the samecriticisms were made of the cinema. But althoughchild psychologists have spent a great deal of timestudying this problem, there is not much evidencethat television brings about juvenile delinquency.

The ability of radio to give us information while weare engaged in doing other things ------ for instance, driving a car ------ is remarkable, anda great saving of time. But it may be seriously questioned whether the advent of moderncommunications media has much enhanced our intellectual skills.
