英文寫作不能一味地使用短句或長句，否則會使人感到句子過于簡單或過于晦澀。段落中的短句過多，不僅使得段落顯得單調，而且使得段落非常零散、內容淺薄。要盡量使自己的文章的長短句結合，如果一旦發現段落中盡是寫短句的話，這時就需要將某些簡短的語句擴展成比較長的句子。
