In the largest national-level inspection on record, more than two dozen cities in North China will face a strict one-year inspection over air pollution prevention and control, the Ministry of Environmental Protection announced Wednesday.

環保部5日宣布，將對京津冀及周邊傳輸通道"2+26"城市開展為期一年的大氣污染防治強化督查(a strict one-year inspection over air pollution prevention and control)。環保部將從全國抽調5600名環境執法人員開展督查。強化督查主要包括：相關地方各級政府及有關部門落實大氣污染防治任務情況(implementation of air pollution prevention and control targets)、固定污染源(stationary pollution source)環保設施運行及達標排放(up-to-standard discharge)情況、"散亂污"企業排查、取締(closure)情況，錯峰生產企業停產(halt production)、限產措施執行情況，涉揮發性有機污染物(volatile organic compounds, VOCs)企業治理設施安裝運行(installation and operation)情況等。
?環保部要求，對地方黨委、政府和有關部門大氣污染防治責任落實情況開展"系統化"督查("systematic" inspections)，始終保持高壓(high pressure)態勢;要保證督查質量，對存在環境違法問題的企業(單位)絕不姑息(zero tolerance)，依法予以處罰。
