But the Chinese did!
One day Mr. Tom said to one of his friends, “I'm going to have a holiday in Beijing. But I don't speak Chinese, so I'll go to evening classes and have Chinese lessons for a month before I go.”
He studied very hard for a month, and then his holidays began and he went to China.
When he came back a few weeks later his friend said to him, “Did you have any trouble with your Chinese when you were in Beijing, Tom?”
“No, I didn't have any trouble with it,” answered Mr. Tom, “But the Chinese did!”

一天，湯姆先生對(duì)朋友說(shuō)，'我要去北京度假，但我不會(huì)漢語(yǔ)，我準(zhǔn)備去之前上夜校學(xué)一個(gè)月的漢語(yǔ)課程。'他努力學(xué)了 一個(gè)月，然后到中國(guó)度假去了。幾星期后他會(huì)來(lái)了，朋友問(wèn)他，“湯姆，在北京時(shí)，你的漢語(yǔ)碰到了麻煩嗎？”
“沒(méi)有，我的漢語(yǔ)一點(diǎn)麻煩也沒(méi)有，”湯姆先生說(shuō)，“倒是中國(guó)人碰到了麻煩！”
