從2013年6月開始，四級作文的命題特點想考研作文出題方式靠攏。這預示著國家希望更多的準研究生英語方面的能力能達到四級水平，使四級考試和考研考試有個流暢的過度和銜接，充分將考研寫作與四級寫作結合，不同之處在于四級寫作字數少，難度上低于考研寫作。例如：
