Silence Is Gold
When we talk of the famous proverb "Silence is gold", we should not simply label it as right or wrong, but explore it in depth.
當我們談到“沉默是金”這一著名的諺語時，我們不應(yīng)該簡單地把其標注為正確或錯誤，而應(yīng)該進行深入探討。
This proverb is especiaUy true under several situations. First, if we have made a promise not to let out a secret, we should always keep silent. Second, we should avoid talking over facts or statistics of which we are not sure. Third, whenever we are expressing our ideas， brevity is the soul of wit and talking too much will always lead to faults and mistakes.
這一諺語在一些情況下尤其如此。首先，如果我們作出了承諾要保守秘密，我們應(yīng)該始終保持沉默。第二，我們應(yīng)該避免談?wù)撐覀儾淮_定的事實或統(tǒng)計數(shù)據(jù)。第三，無論什么時候我們表達自己的想法時，言貴簡潔，說話太多往往會導致錯誤。
Nevertheless, there are also some exceptions. If we find out a flaw in other's speaking or writing, we should not hesitate a moment to point it out. And to friends or acquaintances seeking advice, we should feel free to help them.
不過，也有一些例外。如果我們在他人的說話或?qū)懽髦邪l(fā)現(xiàn)了一個錯誤，我們應(yīng)該毫不猶豫地指出來。在朋友或熟人征尋意見時，我們應(yīng)該隨時幫助他們。
In a word, we can draw the conclusion that in most cases "silence is gold", but in certain circumstances, talking is the right choice. (155 words)
