University Classes, Required or Optional?
大學(xué)課程是強制還是選擇?
Nowadays, with more and more young people havingopportunities to attend colleges and universities,there have been drastic changes in various aspectsof university education. One of the hot issues iswhether university students should be required toattend classes. In my opinion, they shouldn’t.
如今，越來越多的年輕人進(jìn)入了大學(xué)的校門。大學(xué)的教育在許多方面都有了巨大的改變。其中最熱門的話題是大學(xué)學(xué)生是否應(yīng)該強制性聽課。我認(rèn)為，這不需要。
University students should have their own options about whether they will attend classes ornot.First of all, by the time people started their university life, they would be mature enough tobe responsible for their own decisions and behavior. They are no longer children and should becapable of determining whether or not they need to attend a given class. Secondly, theuniversity life is more than academic study.Students are exposed to many new opportunities,which will make them grasp more practical social skills for theirfuture. It is very important thatthey have the freedom to decide how to manage their time and to which they should givepriority.Moreover, missing classes doesn’t necessarily mean they miss crucialinformation;generally this can be made up for by referring to notes of other people, thoughsome courses, which need practical work, such as field trips and experiments, are exceptional.Last but not least, mandating studentattendance is an unnecessary burden on professors,who are there to teach those who want to learn, but notto babysit.
就是否參加課程，大學(xué)學(xué)生應(yīng)該有自己的選擇。首先，當(dāng)學(xué)生開啟自己的大學(xué)之旅時，他們應(yīng)該對自己的決定和行為負(fù)責(zé)。他們不再是孩子，他們應(yīng)該有能力來決定他們是否要參加課程。第二，大學(xué)生活不僅僅是學(xué)習(xí)。學(xué)生會擁有更多的機會，這將讓他們獲得更多未來所需要的社會技能。他們有如何管理時間的自由，以及分清輕重的自由，這是最重要的。此外，不參加課程并不意味著他們沒有獲得主要信息;他們也可以通過其他同學(xué)的筆記來獲得。盡管一些課程需要實踐來獲得，例如實地考察，實驗等，這些是要排除在外的。最后，對于老師來說，點名會給老師帶來不必要的負(fù)擔(dān)，老師是來教授那些想要學(xué)習(xí)的學(xué)生的。老師不會充當(dāng)保姆的角色。
In a nutshell, university students are sensible adults, who can decide whether the classes areworth attending, especially those more self-directed courses. University courses should beoptional for students rather than required.
總結(jié)，大學(xué)學(xué)生是一群理智的成年人，他們能夠決定這些課程是否值得參加，特別是那些自主的課程。大學(xué)課程應(yīng)該是選擇性的，而不是強制性的。
