My View on a Minor at College
我對大學生學習第二專業的見解。
In order to be more competitive in their futurecareer,many college students choose to work on aminor besides a major. This is quite demanding inthat they have to work much harder than those whochoose to concentrate on their major only.However, I think it is quite rewarding to have aminor on the side.
為了讓自己更有競爭力，許多大學生都選擇學習第二專業。這對于學生的要求非常高，因為他們要比那些只有一個專業的學生更要努力學習。但是，我認為選擇學習第二專業是非常有益的。
You may argue that it is only sensible to concentrate on one’s major and work hard in questof excellence.It is true for students who have a low level of aptitude and are doing poorly intheir own major. To them,a minor would only mean a distraction and affect their performancein their major. But considering the severe employment situation in the present job market,walking with two legs is always better. The reason for this is quite obvious. If a student workssolely on a major, he or she is confined to the same field of learning for a career. But if astudent could manage to work on a minor on the side, it would definitely make a difference.Despite the extra work required of the minor, those who choose to have a minor could haveone more chance for his or her employment compared to those who don’t choose one, for theycan not onlylearn more but also can be more competitive in their future hunting for jobs.
你或許會認為學生就應該關注于自己的主專業，并達到優秀的水平。對于那些水平不高，專業技能差的學生來說是這樣的。對于他們來說，第二專業就意味著分心，并影響他們主專業的發展。但是考慮到激烈的競爭就業環境，有第二專業是一件好事。原因顯而易見。如果學生只關注與本專業的學習，那么他只能在自己學習的領域發展事業。但是如果學生能夠學習第二專業，那么就會非常不同。盡管第二專業的學習需要更多的努力，那些選擇學習第二專業的學生更能夠擁有更好的工作，就那些沒有第二專業的學生來說，因為這些學生不僅能夠學習到更多的知識，而且還能擁有更好的工作機會。
In conclusion, a minor for college studentsis demanding but rewarding so far as the factorof future employment is concerned.
總結，選擇學習第二專業的學生是非常有意義的，就未來的就業發展來說。
