Nowadays, new infectious diseases are emergingand spreading faster than ever before. Globalepidemics have become a serious threat to humanhealth and lives.Worldwide discussions about how tofight against them are ongoing actively. In myopinion, one effective way is to take concretemonitoring and quarantining measures.

For one thing, new diseases are emerging at a historically unprecedented rate. Vulnerability isuniversal.Governments worldwide must keep watch for new threats like the emergence ofSARS, new types of bird flu and Mexican swine flu. For another, due to the global boom in airtravel, it makes it possible for even just one individual traveling between countries, carrying aninfectious disease,to be a threat to others andto cause an alarm or a potential crisis in anothercountry. The WHO also warned that an outbreak of an epidemic in one part of the world now isonly a few hours away from becoming an imminent threat somewhere else.
第一，新的疾病正在以前所未有的速度傳播著。人們的受感率非常高。全世界都應該關注著疾病的發展，例如SARS、禽流感以及墨西哥豬流感的傳播。第二，由于航空業的不斷發展，就算是個人在國家之間的旅行都可能會感染疾病，這會給他人帶來威脅，這也會對其他國家產生潛在的危機。
Infectious diseases are now spreading geographically much faster than at any time in history.Thus government health authorities around the world should improve their monitoring ofinfectious diseases, report outbreaks as soon as they happen and carry out quarantiningmeasures strictly.Only by effective monitoring and quarantining measures can we fight againstthe increasingly serious threat of global epidemics. Don’t wait till winter comes. Now it is timeto prevent the worse from happening.
傳染性疾病的傳播速度正在與日俱增。所以，全世界的健康部門應該加強傳染性疾病的防控，一旦進入隔離階段，就要及時通報疫情的發展。只有通過有效的監控和隔離措施，我們才能抗擊全球疾病的威脅。不要等到冬季來臨。現在是預防疾病的最好時間。
