一個(gè)人想要成功，最需要的能力是什么?
You may be aware of that people have long been debating about whether it's IQ or EQ.
你可能已經(jīng)察覺(jué)，長(zhǎng)久以來(lái)，人們一直在爭(zhēng)論到底是智商還是情商。
One of them measures how much you can master complexity.
它們中的其中一個(gè)衡量的是你掌握復(fù)雜東西的能力。
The other measures how much you can understand and control emotion.
另一個(gè)衡量的則是你理解、控制感情的能力。
Sure, they are both very important.
誠(chéng)然，它們都非常重要。
But neither of them is the critical one.
但它們都不是最重要的那個(gè)。
General Patton once said: "I don't measure a man's success by how high he climbs but how high he bounces when he hits bottom."
巴頓將軍曾經(jīng)說(shuō)過(guò)：“衡量一個(gè)人的成功時(shí)，我并不看他能爬多高，而是看他能從多深的低谷爬起來(lái)。”
And this quality is called AQ, which stands for Adversity Quotient.

It measures how well you can handle adversities.
它衡量的是你應(yīng)對(duì)逆境的能力。
Most people can do very well when everything is fine.
很多人在一切順利的時(shí)候都能做得很好。
But most of them will collapse once a great adveristy comes and neither IQ or EQ can save them from that.
然而一旦經(jīng)歷了重大的挫折，他們中的很多就會(huì)崩潰，而不管是IQ還是EQ都無(wú)法拯救這樣的人。
Can you handle an adversity? If not, make yourself.
你能挺得過(guò)逆境嗎?如果不能，那就強(qiáng)迫自己能。
