I received your note the day before yesterday; its little fly tracks run constantly in my head, perhaps also even in my heart, my most hearty thanks for all the affection that you show me... I, too, rejoice in the thought of seeing you soon again, and of making a "living print'' upon those sweet and Swabian features. Ah; that phrase would have less platonic meaning were I only still a man. But I am nothing more than a spirit; that may suit you, but me it only suits after a mediocre fashion...... Yes, I rejoice in the thought of seeing you again, fine mouches of my soul! Most fascinating of musk cats! But at the same times as mild as an Angora cat, a species which I prefer. For a long time I loved tiger cats; but they are too dangerous, and the "living prints" which they sometimes left upon my face were unpleasing. Things are going very badly with me, nothing but a succession of vexations and fits of rage. Fury against my condition which is desperate! Goodbye. May the waters strengthen you and do you good.
