Thank you for your concern about the people in the snowstorm-hit areas in China. 108 people were killed in the heavy snowstorm which struck the southern areas of China in January, 2008. Of the 21 provincial-level areas affected, Hunan and Guizhou suffered the most. The disaster destroyed power facilities, cutting power supplies in many areas. Houses and crops were damaged. Railways and roads were also blocked. As a result, huge economic losses were caused.
So far the government has sent tens of thousands of technical workers, policemen, soldiers and medical workers to these areas. People all over China and in some other countries have donated a lot of food, clothes and money to help. Now things are improving.
I think we can overcome the difficulty through our hard work.
