Reading is the most effective way to acquire knowledge. When going to primary school， middle school， or college， one can gain different kinds of practical knowledge. We can only spend part of our lives in school and college， therefore we need to increase our knowledge through reading by ourselves. Reading good books is one of the greatest pleasures in life. Through reading good books， we can learn more common sense and add to our knowledge and develop new abilities. Through the “descriptions” in books we can “travel” to attractive and exciting places. In this way reading can give great pleasure.
Furthermore， there is no friend as good as books. A good book often gives valuable advice and encourages people to make progress. There is practically nothing that we cannot learn from books， and they are the most generous friends and keep nothing away from us.
