no one ever accused mussolini of being subtle. when struggling for power, he used revolvers, clubs, and daggers to make his political points. the archbishop of milan did not like this, and spoke out against the activities of mussolini ’ s fascists. mussolini saw no point in arguing about it. instead, he stopped a man on the street and paid him ten lire to deliver a package to the archbishop.
fortunately the time bomb in the package failed to go off. the archbishop went on to become pope pius xi. mussolini went on to become dictator of italy.
