永明大師的真名是延壽，他圓寂后，朝廷追授他為智覺公。因?yàn)樗≡诤贾莸挠烂魉吕铮藗冞€是習(xí)慣稱他永明大師。
the real name of the master yongming was yanshou, and after he passed away, the emperor bestowed the name zhijue on him, but everyone calls him master yongming because he lived in the yongming temple of hangzhou.
永明大師出家前，俗姓王。二十幾歲的時(shí)候，他在杭州附近的余杭縣當(dāng)官，管理財(cái)政。他很同情那些被抓來吃掉的魚蝦，所以有時(shí)他就從財(cái)庫中拿出錢來買魚蝦，然后把它們帶到岸邊放生。
