Is Military Training Necessary Now?

Whether military training is still necessary for freshmen has become a heated topic in China recently. Some people maintain that it is not and should be canceled. For one thing, military training is nothing but kind of torture, causing horrible sudden death time and again. For another, the training seems ineffective since most students resume their idling lifestyles at the end of the training.

對(duì)于新生來說，軍訓(xùn)是否仍然是必要的，最近在中國已經(jīng)成為一個(gè)熱門話題。有些人認(rèn)為這是不應(yīng)該被取消的。首先，軍事訓(xùn)練只不過是一種折磨，導(dǎo)致了可怕的突然死亡。另一方面，由于大多數(shù)學(xué)生在培訓(xùn)結(jié)束后恢復(fù)了他們的無所事事的生活方式，這種培訓(xùn)似乎是無效的。

However, other people believe that military training is a must for today’s spoiled youth. First of all, it makes them more likely to persist

instead of escaping in face of hardships. Second, the self-discipline and teamwork spirit students develop are invisibly valuable wealth for their future. Last but not least, it provides a good chance for students to learn more on military and broaden their horizons.

然而，其他人認(rèn)為，軍事訓(xùn)練是當(dāng)今被寵壞的年輕人所必須的。首先，這讓他們更有可能堅(jiān)持下去而不是在困難面前逃跑。其次，學(xué)生的自我約束和團(tuán)隊(duì)合作精神是他們未來的寶貴財(cái)富。最后但也很重要的一點(diǎn)是，它為學(xué)生提供了一個(gè)更好的機(jī)會(huì)，讓他們可以在軍事上學(xué)到更多東西，開闊眼界。

Generally, I agree with those advocating for military training. However, I insist that some training programs should be modified or carried out carefully. For example, when trainees have to stand for hours in the hot sun, trainers and teachers should watch closely their physical conditions to prevent the tragedy of sudden death from happening.

總的來說，我同意那些倡導(dǎo)軍事訓(xùn)練的人。但是，我堅(jiān)持認(rèn)為應(yīng)該對(duì)一些培訓(xùn)項(xiàng)目進(jìn)行修改或謹(jǐn)慎實(shí)施。例如，當(dāng)受訓(xùn)者不得不在烈日下站立數(shù)小時(shí)時(shí)，教練和老師應(yīng)該密切關(guān)注他們的身體狀況，以防止突然死亡的悲劇發(fā)生。
