The first May Day Golden Week started in the year2000 and was reduced to a three-day holiday acouple of years ago. This policy has given rise to aheated discussion. Some propose that we shouldresume May Day Golden Week,while others wouldlike to stick to a three-day rest.

I think that it is a good idea to resume it.In the first place, it is a good chance for teachers andstudents at school to get relaxed both physically and mentally. After hard work for a couple ofmonths, a good rest is badly needed for better academic performance. No wonder that aresumption of May Day Golden Week is welcome at colleges and universities. Moreover, thewhole community seems to suggest that the May Day Golden Week be resumed. Everyoneneeds a break in work after shopping or traveling. It is obvious that such resumption will be asure stimulation of consumption, which will eventually help with employment in some way.However, whether we are to resume it or not depends heavily on the government’s reaction tothe public appeal. On the one hand, an immediate resumption of the Golden Week after it wascancelled just one yearago might harm the seriousness and persistence of the state policy.On the other hand, it is only right for the policy-makers to conform to the public opinions anddo what is right for the general public.
我認為恢復長假期是一件好事。首先，在校的學生和老師都能夠在身心上得到放松。工作了幾個月之后，好的休息能夠促進學習成績的提高。難怪恢復五一黃金周得到了大學學生的歡迎。此外，社會似乎也在暗示五一黃金周的回歸。工作之余，人們需要休息。無疑，這一恢復將促進消費的增長，這也將在某些方面促進就業。但是，是否恢復黃金周還要依賴于政府對待社會需求的行動而定。一方面，要讓政府在取消黃金周的一年之后就恢復黃金周將損害國家政策的嚴肅性，立場性。另一方面，政策制定者應該遵循大眾的呼聲，并作出對大眾有利的決定。
From the above analysis,it is quite likely that the May Day Golden Week be resumed verysoon.
