在托福寫作過程中，備考如何僅憑自己盲目的進行寫作練習，還是很難得到快速的提升。了解考試的形式和評分的標準才是其中最為關鍵的部分。托福寫作分為Integrated writing和Independent writing，即綜合和獨立兩塊。這兩塊獨立評分，取平均值后得到最后分數。所以，這兩部分都要重視，權重一樣，無需偏重。

其中，information(信息量)和organization(邏輯)是兩個最關鍵的詞，語言部分則并無多大要求。但這部分對詞數和事件都是有要求的，官方規定150-225詞，建議實際寫作20分鐘內完成180-260詞。
