夕暮
——郭沫若
我攜著(1)三個孩子在屋后草場中嬉戲著的時候，夕陽正燒著海上的天壁(2)，眉痕的新月已經出現在鮮紅的云(3)縫里了。
草場中放牧著的幾條黃牛，不時曳著悠長的鳴聲(4)，好像在叫它們的主人快來牽它們回去。
我們的兩匹母雞和幾只雞雛(5)，先先后后地從鄰寺的墓地里跑回來了。
立在廚房門內的孩子們的母親向門外的沙地上撒了一握米粒出來。
母雞們咯咯咯地叫了起來了(6)，雞雛們也啁啁地爭食起來了。
——“今年的成績真好呢，竟養大了十只(7)。”
歡愉的音波，在金色的暮靄中游泳。
注釋：
《夕暮》是郭沫若的早期小品，充滿詩情畫意，堪稱一篇玲瓏剔透的美文。文章記述的是真情真事，字里行間流露出熱愛生活的感情。
(1)“我攜著”譯為accompanied by myself，其中myself比me更確切，不但讀來順口，且能加強語氣，突出“親自”的含義。
(2)“海上的天壁”指“海邊的上空”，不宜直譯，現以加字法處理：the sky above the distant edge of the sea。
(3)“鮮紅的云”譯為the scarlet clouds。顏色詞scarlet在此比red更確切，因scarlet的意思是very bright red，與原文“鮮紅”一致。
(4)“曳著悠長的鳴聲”中的“曳”作“拖”或“拉”解，結合上下文譯為let out，意同utter（發出），為英語常用成語。又“鳴聲”譯為moo，為英語擬聲詞，指牛的叫聲，相當于漢語的“哞”。
(5)“我們的兩匹母雞和幾只雞雛”譯為Our two mother hens and their baby chicks，其中mother和baby是為加強譯文效果而添加的定語，前者作“母”解，后者作“幼小”解。
(6)“母雞們咯咯地叫起來了”譯為At the clucking of the hens，其中介詞At表示時間，即先后兩個動作很快相繼發生，或后面一個動作是前面一個動作的反應。在此指母雞一叫，小雞立即爭食。
(7)“‘今年的成績真好呢，竟養大了十只’”譯為 “We’ve done quite well this year, with ten chicks growing fast, ” beamed my wife，其中beamed my wife（妻微笑地或欣喜的說）是添加成分，原文雖無其詞卻有其意。

While my three kids accompanied by myself, were frolicking about on the meadow behind my house, the sky above the distant edge of the sea was aglow with the setting sun and the crescent new moon was already peeping out from behind the scarlet clouds.
A few cows grazing on the pasture let out a long drawn-out moo now and then as if urging their master to lead them home as quickly as possible.
Our two mother hens and their baby chicks were scurrying homeward one after another from the grave yard of the nearby monastery.
The kids’ mother, standing by the kitchen door, sprinkled a handful of rice onto the sandy ground in the open.
At the clucking of the hens, the chicks scrambled for the feed, chirping.
“We’ve done quite well this year, with ten chicks growing fast,” beamed my wife.
The joyous sound wave drifted through the golden evening mist.
