舊約 -- 箴言(Proverbs) -- 第21章
21：1 王的心在耶和華手中，好像隴溝的水，隨意流轉。
The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD， as the rivers of water： he turneth it whithersoever he will.
21：2 人所行的，在自己的眼中都看為正，惟有耶和華衡量人心。
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes： but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
21：3 行仁義公平，比獻祭更蒙耶和華悅納。
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
21：4 惡人發達，眼高心傲，這乃是罪。（發達原文是燈）
An high look， and a proud heart， and the plowing of the wicked， is sin.
21：5 殷勤籌畫的，足致豐裕。行事急躁的，都必缺乏。
The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness； but of every one that is hasty only to want.
21：6 用詭詐之舌求財的，就是自己取死。所得之財，乃是吹來吹去的浮云。
The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
21：7 惡人的強暴，必將自己掃除。因他們不肯按公平行事。
The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them； because they refuse to do judgment.
21：8 負罪之人的路，甚是彎曲。至于清潔的人，他所行的乃是正直。
The way of man is froward and strange： but as for the pure， his work is right.
21：9 寧可住在房頂的角上，不在寬闊的房屋，與爭吵的婦人同住。
It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop， than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
21：10 惡人的心，樂人受禍。他眼并不憐恤鄰舍。
The soul of the wicked desireth evil： his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
21：11 褻慢的人受刑罰，愚蒙的人就得智慧。智慧人受訓誨，便得知識。
When the scorner is punished， the simple is made wise： and when the wise is instructed， he receiveth knowledge.
21：12 義人思想惡人的家，知道惡人傾倒，必至滅亡。
The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked： but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
21：13 塞耳不聽窮人哀求的，他將來呼吁也不蒙應允。
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor， he also shall cry himself， but shall not be heard.
21：14 暗中送的禮物，挽回怒氣。懷中搋的賄賂，止息暴怒。
A gift in secret pacifieth anger： and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
21：15 秉公行義，使義人喜樂，使作孽的人敗壞。
It is joy to the just to do judgment： but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
21：16 迷離通達道路的，必住在陰魂的會中。
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
21：17 愛宴樂的，必致窮乏。好酒愛膏油的，必不富足。
He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man： he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
21：18 惡人作了義人的贖價。奸詐人代替正直人。
The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous， and the transgressor for the upright.
21：19 寧可住在曠野，不與爭吵使氣的婦人同住。
It is better to dwell in the wilderness， than with a contentious and an angry woman.
21：20 智慧人家中積蓄寶物膏油。愚昧人隨得來隨吞下。
There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise； but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21：21 追求公義仁慈的，就尋得生命，公義，和尊榮。
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life， righteousness， and honour.
21：22 智慧人爬上勇士的城墻，傾覆他所倚靠的堅壘。
A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty， and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
21：23 謹守口與舌的，就保守自己免受災難。
Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
21：24 心驕氣傲的人，名叫褻慢。他行事狂妄，都出于驕傲。
Proud and haughty scorner is his name， who dealeth in proud wrath.
21：25 懶惰人的心愿，將他殺害，因為他手不肯作工。
The desire of the slothful killeth him； for his hands refuse to labour.
21：26 有終日貪得無厭的，義人施舍而不吝惜。
He coveteth greedily all the day long： but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
21：27 惡人的祭物是可憎的，何況他存惡意來獻呢。
The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination： how much more， when he bringeth it with a wicked mind？
21：28 作假見證的必滅亡，惟有聽真情而言的，其言長存。
A false witness shall perish： but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
21：29 惡人臉無羞恥，正直人行事堅定。
A wicked man hardeneth his face： but as for the upright， he directeth his way.
21：30 沒有人能以智慧，聰明，謀略，敵擋耶和華。
There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
21：31 馬是為打仗之日豫備的。得勝乃在乎耶和華。
The horse is prepared against the day of battle： but safety is of the LORD.
