“For the last time, I don’t want any insurance!” said the harassed householder to the salesman.
“這是最后一次了，我不要買任何保險！”被騷擾的房主對推銷員說道。
“Just a moment, sir. Please consider this: Just last month I sold a policy to a man much like yourself. The very next day his house caught fire. The house was completely gutted. To save himself, he had to leap from an upstairs window; he landed on his own car, went through the roof, broke both his legs and an arm.”
“等一會兒，先生，請您仔細考慮一下：上個月有一位先生長得跟你很像，他剛買了一份保險，隔天他家就著火，房子內部全都被燒毀，為了保住性命，他從樓上窗戶跳下來，恰巧落在他的汽車上，穿過車頂，他摔斷了兩條腿和一只手臂。”
“Well, he was one of the lucky ones, wasn’t he?”
“喔！他就是你所說的幸運人士中的一個，不是嗎？”
英語知識點解說：
1.insurance n. 保險
insure vt. 保險
ensure vt. 確保（通常接事物當賓語）
assure vt. 保證（通常主語為人，亦以人做賓語）
insure one's property against... 將財物投保……險
assure sb that... 向某人保證……
例：A wise businessman will insure his business against loss due to fire.
（聰明的商人會為他的事業投保火險。）
Hard work ensures success.
（努力確保成功。）
I can assure you that we will finish the work on time.

2.harass vt. 困擾
harassment n. 騷擾
sexual harassment 性騷擾
例：Men, too, can be victims of sexual harassment.
（男人也可能成為性騷擾的對象。）
3.policy n. 保險單；政策
例：Our company policy is to give the customer fair value for his money.
（本公司的政策就是讓顧客花錢花得有價值。）
4.catch fire 著火
5.gut vt. （大火 ）破壞或燒毀（建筑物）內部 & n. 膽 量；勇 氣（恒用復數）
例：The whole factory was gutted by the fire.
（這場大火把工廠全燒毀了。）
例：I believe he doesn't have the guts to do it .

6.leap vi. & n. 跳；躍
三態為leap, leapt/leaped, leapt/leaped
by leaps and bounds 突飛猛進地
例：Our company is advancing by leaps and bounds.

7.upstairs a. & ad. 在樓上（的）
downstairs a. & ad. 在樓下（的）
例：My upstairs neighbor is a drummer and my downstairs neighbor plays the saxophone.Thank God I'm deaf!

8.land vi. 著陸
例：The plane that malfunctioned successfully landed at the airport.
（故障的飛機成功降落在機場。）
