A Flat Fire
While driving along a country road in Vermont，my husband thought he had a flat fire. Stopping at a combination general store and gas station，he said to the proprietor，“I'm afraid my tire may be going flat and I wonder if you'd be kind enough to look at it.”
After a moment of contemplation the Vermonter said，“Afraid there's nuthin'I can do by lookin'at it.”

我丈夫在弗爾蒙特沿著鄉間公路開車時，覺得輪胎破了。他把車停在一個兼營雜貨的加油站前，對店主說：“我的車胎恐怕是破了，能不能請你幫忙看一看？”
那個弗爾蒙特人想了一會兒說：“光看看恐怕不行吧?！?/p>
