Wednesday is Earth Day, a day to appreciate and protect this precious planet we call home.

下周三是世界地球日，這是我們珍惜和保護這個作為我們共同家園的珍貴星球的日子。

And today, there's no greater threat to our planet than climate change.

當今對這個星球的威脅之中，沒有什么比氣候變化更嚴重了。

2014 was the planet's warmest year on record. Fourteen of the 15 hottest years on record have all fallen in the first 15 years of this century.

2014年是有史以來最熱的一年。而歷史上15個最熱的年份，有14個出現在本世紀的頭15年當中。

This winter was cold in parts of our country-as some folks in Congress like to point out-but around the world, it was the warmest ever recorded.

And the fact that the climate is changing has very serious implications for the way we live now.

Stronger storms.Deeper droughts.Longer wildfire seasons.

The world's top climate scientists are warning us that a changing climate already affects the air our kids breathe.

全球最頂尖的氣候學家警告我們，持續的氣候變化已經影響到孩子們呼吸的空氣。

Last week, the Surgeon General and I spoke with public experts about how climate change is already affecting patients across the country.

上周，衛生部長和我一起與專家們討論了氣候變化對全國的病人產生了的影響。

The Pentagon says that climate change poses immediate risks to our national security.

五角大樓也宣布氣候變化對我們的國家安全產生了現實的威脅。

And on Earth Day, I'm going to visit the Florida Everglades to talk about the way that climate change threatens our economy.

The Everglades is one of the most special places in our country.

埃弗格萊茲濕地是我國最為特別的一個地方。

But it's also one of the most fragile.

Rising sea levels are putting a national treasure-and an economic engine for the South Florida tourism industry-at risk.

不斷上升的海平面正威脅這一地區，這片國家級的珍貴濕地，也是南佛羅里達州寶貴的旅游資源，面臨消失的危險。

So climate change can no longer be denied-or ignored.

因此，我們不能繼續對氣候變化問題不管不顧。

The world is looking to the United States-to us-to lead.

全世界都在關注我們，希望美國帶領大家一起行動。

And that's what we're doing.

我們正在努力之中。

We're using more clean energy than ever before.

我們比以前使用更多的清潔能源。

America is number one in wind power, and every three weeks, we bring online as much solar power as we did in all of 2008.

美國是全世界風能發電最多的國家，每三個星期，我們就有相當于2008年全年的太陽能發電量上線并網。

We're taking steps to waste less energy, with more fuel-efficient cars that save us money at the pump, and more energy-efficient buildings that save us money on our electricity bills.

我們正在采取措施減少能源浪費，采用更高效的發動機制造汽車，為大家節省燃料費用，建設更節能的建筑，為人們節省電費。

So thanks in part to these actions, our carbon pollution has fallen by 10 percent since 2007, even as we've grown our economy and seen the longest streak of private-sector job growth on record.

正是有了我們的這些措施，我們的碳排放自2007年以來降低了10%，而在這期間，我們的經濟取得了發展，私營部門也創下了連續增長就業最長的時間記錄。

We've committed to doubling the pace at which we cut carbon pollution, and China has committed, for the first time, to limiting their emissions.

And because the world's two largest economies came together, there's new hope that, with American leadership, this year, the world will finally reach an agreement to prevent the worst impacts of climate change before it's too late.

正因為全球兩大經濟體之間的合作，新的希望就在眼前，在美國的引領下，今年，全世界將最終達成一致，在氣候變化產生嚴重影響之前阻止這一趨勢繼續惡化。

This is an issue that's bigger and longer-lasting than my presidency.

這是一項比總統本身更宏大，比總統任期更長遠的事業。

It's about protecting our God-given natural wonders, and the good jobs that rely on them.

它關系著保護上蒼賜予我們的偉大自然，關系著依賴于此的高薪工作。

It's about shielding our cities and our families from disaster and harm.

它關系著讓我們的城市和家園免受災害的侵襲。

It's about keeping our kids healthy and safe.

它關系著我們的孩子們的健康和安全。

This is the only planet we've got.

這是我們唯一擁有的星球。

And years from now, I want to be able to look our children and grandchildren in the eye and tell them that we did everything we could to protect it.

我希望多年以后，我能看著我們的孩子們以及孩子們的孩子們的眼睛，告訴他們，我們盡到了我們的最大力量來保護這個星球。
