frederick the great of prussia, who was a philosopher as well as a great military leader, knew very well that a hero one day might be a coward the next. in 1741, at the battle of mollwitz, he was very much impressed by a wounded footsoldier, who seized a riderless horse, mounted it, rode into battle and returned with an austrian officer as a prisoner. the king ordered the man's wounds to be tended, and when he had recovered he was made an officer and transferred to the cavalry.
but on his first day of duty with an elite cavalry unit, he deserted to the enemy.

但 他 第 一 天 和 一 支 精 銳 騎 兵 部 隊 執 勤 ， 就 投 敵 去 了 。
