two scottish soldiers taken prisoner when france fell to the germans in 1940 escaped, and made their way towards the spanish border. they were about to row across a river when two german soldiers stopped them. they thought their number was up, but stalled in broken french and finally found that the germans only wanted to cross too.
“ so we paddled them across, ” said the two scots later, “ and charged them five francs each. ”
一九 四 ○ 年 ， 法 國 落 入 德 軍 手 上 ， 有 兩 名 蘇 格 蘭 士 兵 被 俘 ， 其 后 逃 脫 ， 奔 向 西 班 牙 ，來 到 一 條 河 邊 ， 正 準 備 劃 船 過 去 ， 卻 被 兩 名 德 國 士 兵 叫 住 ， 以 為 大 限 難 逃 ， 但 還 是用 結 結 巴 巴 的 法 語 拖 延 時 間 ， 最 后 發 覺 那 兩 名 士 兵 也 是 要 渡 河 而 已 。
