意 外 敵 人
the participants in the first world war frequently found that in africa they faced enemies who, though impartial in the war, were prepared to defend their territory to the best of their ability. on one occasion, a british patrol was routed by three rhinoceroses, and on another by a troop of enraged baboons. in one three-sided contest, a rhinoceros first drove a british patrol away, then turned on the germans who had been firing at them, and lastly routed a group of masai tribesmen who had merely been observing the battle.
第 一 次 世 界 大 戰 的 交 戰 國 發 覺 ， 在 非 洲 ， 常 要 對 付 一 些 「 敵 人 」 。 這 些 「 敵 人 」 不 偏 幫 戰 爭 中 任 何 一 方 ， 但 會 盡 力 保 自 己 的 領 土 。 有 一 次 ， 一 支 英 國 巡 邏 隊 被 三 只 犀 牛 殺 得 抱 頭 鼠 竄 ； 又 有 一 次 ， 被 一群 狒 狒 怒 沖 沖 殺 得 落 荒 而 逃 。 有 一 只 犀 牛 更 大 戰 三 方 ， 先 把 一 支 英 國 巡 邏 隊 趕 走 ，再 沖 向 朝 巡 邏 隊 開 槍 的 德 軍 ， 最 后 把 作 壁 上 觀 的 一 群 馬 薩 伊 族 人 殺 得 棄 甲 曳 兵 。
