in 1880, when afghanstan was trying to repel british invasion, a british force was virtually wiped out at maiwand. a mongrel dog named bobbie, the property of one of the dead british soldiers, found his way back to regimental headquarters. when the rest of the regiment returned to england, bobbie went with them to be presented with the afghan medal by queen victoria herself. unfortunately, bobbie did not survive his master for long, being run over and killed by a hansom.
一八八○年，阿富汗力拒英國入侵，梅萬一役把一隊英軍殺得幾乎片甲不留。一名陣亡英軍有只雜種狗叫巴比，覓路回到軍團總部，后來軍團返國，巴比和其將士一起晉見維多利亞女王，獲女王親自頒授阿富汗勛章。可惜巴比不久也跟主人去了：牠被一輛出租二輪馬車撞倒，一命嗚呼。
