違法的代價(jià)
In 1836， the government of Jiangyin county announced a new law forbidding farmers to kill frogs， because frogs eat many harmful insects and protect the crops，so people shouldn't kill frogs to eat.
1836年的時(shí)候，江陰縣頒布了一條法令，不允許捕捉青蛙，因?yàn)榍嗤艹院οx，保護(hù)莊稼，所以人們不應(yīng)該捉青蛙來吃。
When this law was posted， someone told Zhang Axi about it. He made his living catching frogs to sell in the market as meat. He couldn't read， so he didn't know about the new law. When they told him， he didn't like what he heard.
當(dāng)布告貼出來后后，有人告訴了張阿喜。他是靠捉青蛙到市場(chǎng)上賣來掙錢的。他不識(shí)字，所以他不知道這個(gè)新法令。當(dāng)他知道后，很不高興。
"Well， I'm not going to obey that law. Why waste good frogs？" He was so rude and so stubborn that his friends finally gave up trying to get him to change his ways. He killed many frogs.
"好吧，我不會(huì)遵守那條法令的。為什么要浪費(fèi)那么好的青蛙呢？"他既殘忍又頑固，他的朋友只好不再勸他改變他謀生方式了。他殺了很多青蛙。
He always liked to use some of the money he got from selling frogs to buy some liquor and get drunk. Then he would say， "What's wrong with catching frogs？ Look， I'm getting along fine， see？"
他常常用賣青蛙的錢來買酒喝。然后他總是說，"抓青蛙有什么錯(cuò)？看，我不是過得好好的嗎？"
His' friends would tell him， "Yeah， but it's not too good， because it is against the law， after all."
他的朋友對(duì)他說，"是的。但是那不太好吧，畢竟這是違法的啊。"
That would make Axi mad. "What's so great about the law？ Lots of people break the law， not just me."
聽到這些阿喜會(huì)發(fā)火，說，："法律有什么了不起？那么多人違背法律，又不是只有我。"
But then one stormy night， Zhang Axi disappeared. The next morning， when the storm had blown over， the villagers found him. He had fallen into the river and drowned. That could happen to anyone. But what was strange was that hundreds of frogs had come to eat his corpse， in revenge for all of their relatives that he had sold for food.
但是一個(gè)風(fēng)雨交加的夜晚，張阿喜不見了。第二天，當(dāng)風(fēng)雨停了以后，村民才找到他。他已經(jīng)掉到河里淹死了。這種事也可能發(fā)生在其他人身上。但奇怪的是上百只青蛙跑來吃他的尸體，為那些被張阿喜賣掉的親屬報(bào)仇。
Nobody had ever seen anything like it before. They realized that even though you may get away with breaking the government's laws for a while， you can never get away with breaking the laws of the universe.
沒人見過這種事。他們相信如果你違背了官府的法令，可能暫時(shí)逃得掉，但是違背了宇宙的法則，你永遠(yuǎn)也逃不掉。
Sooner or later， your good deeds will be rewarded， and your bad deeds will catch up with you.
善有善報(bào)，惡有惡報(bào)，不是不報(bào)，時(shí)候未到。
