Currently, an increasing number of old people live by themselves, with their children studying or working away, which is referred as the phenomenon of empty nest. According to a recent survey conducted by CCTV, the past five years has witnessed a sharp increase in.
To account for this phenomenon, people have come up with various reasons listed below. To begin with，due to the fierce competition and globalization, many young people have to pursue their career in a remote place. What’s more，the improvement in economy and housing condition makes it possible for a family to have more than one apart-ment. Therefore, the young and the old live separately.
To this problem, in my mind, there are at least several approa-ches. The government and community should establish clubs to engage the attention of the elderly, encouraging the old people themselves to cultivate hobbies.
