14：1 耶和華論到乾旱之災的話臨到耶利米，The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth.

　　14：2 猶大悲哀，城門衰敗。眾人披上黑衣坐在地上。耶路撒冷的哀聲上達。

　　Judah mourneth， and the gates thereof languish； they are black unto the ground； and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.

　　14：3 他們的貴胄打發家僮打水。他們來到水池，見沒有水，就拿著空器皿，蒙羞慚愧，抱頭而回。

　　And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters： they came to the pits， and found no water； they returned with their vessels empty； they were ashamed and confounded， and covered their heads.

　　14：4 耕地的也蒙羞抱頭。因為無雨降在地上，地都乾裂。

　　Because the ground is chapt， for there was no rain in the earth， the plowmen were ashamed， they covered their heads.

　　14：5 田野的母鹿生下小鹿，就撇棄，因為無草。

　　Yea， the hind also calved in the field， and forsook it， because there was no grass.

　　14：6 野驢站在凈光的高處，喘氣好像野狗。因為無草，眼目失明。

　　And the wild asses did stand in the high places， they snuffed up the wind like dragons； their eyes did fail， because there was no grass.

　　14：7 耶和華阿，我們的罪孽雖然作見證告我們，還求你為你名的緣故行事。我們本是多次背道，得罪了你。

　　O LORD， though our iniquities testify against us， do thou it for thy name's sake： for our backslidings are many； we have sinned against thee.

　　14：8 以色列所盼望，在患難時作他救主的阿，你為何在這地像寄居的，又像行路的只住一宵呢。

　　O the hope of Israel， the saviour thereof in time of trouble， why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land， and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night？

　　14：9 你為何像受驚的人，像不能救人的勇士呢。耶和華阿，你仍在我們中間。我們也稱為你名下的人，求你不要離開我們。

　　Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied， as a mighty man that cannot save？ yet thou， O LORD， art in the midst of us， and we are called by thy name； leave us not.

　　14：10 耶和華對這百姓如此說，這百姓喜愛妄行（原文作飄流），不禁止腳步，所以耶和華不悅納他們。現今要記念他們的罪孽，追討他們的罪惡。

　　Thus saith the LORD unto this people， Thus have they loved to wander， they have not refrained their feet， therefore the LORD doth not accept them； he will now remember their iniquity， and visit their sins.

　　14：11 耶和華又對我說，不要為這百姓祈禱求好處。

　　Then said the LORD unto me， Pray not for this people for their good.

　　14：12 他們禁食的時候，我不聽他們的呼求。他們獻燔祭和素祭，我也不悅納。我卻要用刀劍，饑荒，瘟疫滅絕他們。

　　When they fast， I will not hear their cry； and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation， I will not accept them： but I will consume them by the sword， and by the famine， and by the pestilence.

　　14：13 我就說，唉。主耶和華阿，那些先知常對他們說，你們必不看見刀劍，也不遭遇饑荒。耶和華要在這地方賜你們長久的平安。

　　Then said I， Ah， Lord GOD！ behold， the prophets say unto them， Ye shall not see the sword， neither shall ye have famine； but I will give you assured peace in this place.

　　14：14 耶和華對我說，那些先知托我的名說假預言，我并沒有打發他們，沒有吩咐他們，也沒有對他們說話。他們向你們預言的，乃是虛假的異象和占卜，并虛無的事，以及本心的詭詐。

　　Then the LORD said unto me， The prophets prophesy lies in my name： I sent them not， neither have I commanded them， neither spake unto them： they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination， and a thing of nought， and the deceit of their heart.

　　14：15 所以耶和華如此說，論到托我名說預言的那些先知，我并沒有打發他們。他們還說這地不能有刀劍饑荒，其實那些先知必被刀劍饑荒滅絕。

　　Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name， and I sent them not， yet they say， Sword and famine shall not be in this land； By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.

　　14：16 聽他們說預言的百姓必因饑荒刀劍拋在耶路撒冷的街道上，無人葬埋。他們連妻子帶兒女，都是如此。我必將他們的惡倒在他們身上（或作我必使他們罪惡的報應臨到他們身上）。

　　And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword； and they shall have none to bury them， them， their wives， nor their sons， nor their daughters： for I will pour their wickedness upon them.

　　14：17 你要將這話對他們說，愿我眼淚汪汪，晝夜不息，因為我百姓（原文作民的處女）受了裂口破壞的大傷。

　　Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them； Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day， and let them not cease： for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach， with a very grievous blow.

　　14：18 我若出往田間，就見有被刀殺的。我若進入城內，就見有因饑荒患病的。連先知帶祭司在國中往來，也是毫無知識（或作不知怎樣才好）。

　　If I go forth into the field， then behold the slain with the sword！ and if I enter into the city， then behold them that are sick with famine！ yea， both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.

　　14：19 你全然棄掉猶大嗎。你心厭惡錫安嗎。為何擊打我們，以致無法醫治呢。我們指望平安，卻得不著好處。指望痊愈，不料，受了驚惶。

　　Hast thou utterly rejected Judah？ hath thy soul lothed Zion？ why hast thou smitten us， and there is no healing for us？ we looked for peace， and there is no good； and for the time of healing， and behold trouble！

　　14：20 耶和華阿，我們承認自己的罪惡，和我們列祖的罪孽，因我們得罪了你。

　　We acknowledge， O LORD， our wickedness， and the iniquity of our fathers： for we have sinned against thee.

　　14：21 求你為你名的緣故，不厭惡我們，不辱沒你榮耀的寶座。求你追念，不要背了與我們所立的約。

　　Do not abhor us， for thy name's sake， do not disgrace the throne of thy glory： remember， break not thy covenant with us.

　　14：22 外邦人虛無的神中有能降雨的嗎。天能自降甘霖嗎。耶和華我們的神阿，能如此的不是你嗎。所以，我們仍要等候你，因為這一切都是你所造的。

　　Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain？ or can the heavens give showers？ art not thou he， O LORD our God？ therefore we will wait upon thee： for thou hast made all these things.
