美國家庭中的電話機(jī)一般都有留言提示功能，也就是當(dāng)外人打入電話時，如果主人不在家，電話沒人接，電話機(jī)會自動播送一段提示，內(nèi)容通常是：抱歉，家里沒人，請您聽到“嘟”的一聲之后，將您的姓名與電話號碼留下來，我回家之后，馬上給您回電話。由于這樣的提示過于平淡，許多美國人都使用自己編寫的提示。

Hi. I am probably home. I‘m just avoiding someone I don’t like. Leave me a message， and if I don‘t call back， it’s you. 嗨，我可能在家里，但我不想給我討厭的人回電話。請留言吧。如果我沒有給您回電話，那么您就是我討厭的那個人。

Please leave a message. However， you have the right to remain silent. If you give up the right， everything you say will be recorded and will be used by us. 請您留言。當(dāng)然，您有權(quán)保持沉默。如果您放棄這個權(quán)利，那么您說的每句話都將被記錄在案，并且將被我們所利用。

寫到這里，我突發(fā)奇想：干脆也給我自己的電話機(jī)編寫一段幽默提示吧。于是我仿照我的美國朋友Brian家中的提示，編寫了下面這段話，您看看怎么樣？

Thank you for calling us. If you wish to speak to Mike， push 1， to Cathie， push 2， to Alex， push 3， to Doggie， push 4. All of this button pushing doesn‘t do anything， but it makes you feel like we have a big time phone system. 謝謝您給我們打電話。如果您想找Mike（我本人），請按1，找Cathie（我老婆），請按2，找Alex（我兒子），請按3，找Doggie（我家小狗），請按4.其實(shí)不管您按哪個鈕，結(jié)果都一樣（我們家只有一部電話，并沒有分機(jī)），但這會讓您感覺，我們家里好象有一臺很大的電話交換機(jī)。
