54. 信息技術(shù)的發(fā)展前景

But as we stand here today, the opening of CeBIT, we are on the threshold of a very important change in the evolution of this industry. In many ways, this industry, a very immature industry, is about to play out in its most important dimension. That is because the technology has become so powerful and so pervasive that its future impact on people and governments and all institutions will dwarf what has happened today.

然而當(dāng)我們今天站在這里，出席CeBIT開(kāi)幕式的時(shí)候，信息技術(shù)革命正在發(fā)生重要變革。雖然目前信息技術(shù)產(chǎn)業(yè)發(fā)展時(shí)間不長(zhǎng)，但在很多方面，它將發(fā)揮至關(guān)重要的作用。這是因?yàn)樾畔⒓夹g(shù)已經(jīng)變得如此強(qiáng)大、如此普遍，以致未來(lái)它對(duì)人、政府和各個(gè)機(jī)構(gòu)的影響將使目前的狀況相形見(jiàn)絀。

I believe there are two trends that are most significant here, and bear the closest watching. The first is what we call deep computing. The term is inspired by our chess-playing super computer Deep Blue, which I believe many of you know competed with the Grand Master Gary Kasparov last year. The second major development in Information Technology is of course for a topical, already discussed here this evening, and that is the rise of global networks, like the Internet to create a network world, or what some call a network economy.

我認(rèn)為，現(xiàn)在我們最需要關(guān)注的是信息技術(shù)產(chǎn)業(yè)發(fā)展的兩個(gè)最重要的趨勢(shì)。第一個(gè)我們稱(chēng)之為“深入計(jì)算”，這個(gè)術(shù)語(yǔ)是我們?cè)诔?jí)計(jì)算機(jī)“深藍(lán)”的啟發(fā)下得到的。“深藍(lán)”會(huì)下國(guó)際象棋，相信很多人都知道，它去年曾和國(guó)際象棋大師加里·卡帕斯洛夫較量過(guò)。第二個(gè)信息技術(shù)的重要發(fā)展，就像我們已經(jīng)討論過(guò)的，是全凍網(wǎng)絡(luò)的崛起，比如Internet，它創(chuàng)造了一個(gè)網(wǎng)絡(luò)世界，也有些人稱(chēng)之為網(wǎng)絡(luò)經(jīng)濟(jì)。

Personally I believe that future leadership companies and by the way future leadership institutions of all kinds will be those who know how to compete and win on the basis of knowledge——learning, adapting and improving the vital asset we know as information.

我個(gè)人認(rèn)為，未來(lái)社會(huì)的領(lǐng)先企業(yè)和領(lǐng)先機(jī)構(gòu)必將懂得以知識(shí)為基礎(chǔ)——學(xué)習(xí)、適應(yīng)和改進(jìn)信息這一重要資產(chǎn)，在競(jìng)爭(zhēng)中取得勝利。
