Hi, everybody.

On Thursday, I visited a steel plant in Cleveland, Ohio to talk about what we're doing to rebuild our economy on a new foundation for stronger, more durable economic growth.

One area where we've made great progress is American energy.

After years of talk about reducing our dependence on foreign oil, we are actually poised to control our own energy future.

在大喊降低海外石油依賴性的多年之后，現(xiàn)在我們確實(shí)可以掌控自己的能源未來了。

Shortly after I took office, we invested in new American technologies to reverse our dependence on foreign oil and double our wind and solar power.

在我主政不久，我們加大了對(duì)新技術(shù)的投資，以扭轉(zhuǎn)對(duì)海外石油依賴的局面，實(shí)現(xiàn)風(fēng)能和太陽(yáng)能產(chǎn)量翻一番的目標(biāo)。

And today, we generate more renewable energy than ever-with tens of thousands of good, American jobs to show for it.

今天，我們生產(chǎn)的可再生能源比以往任何時(shí)候都要多，帶來的還有成千上萬(wàn)待遇優(yōu)厚的工作崗位。

We produce more natural gas than anyone-and nearly everyone's energy bill is lower because of it.

And just this week, we learned that for the first time in nearly two decades, the United States of America now produces more of our own oil here at home than we buy from other countries.

就在本周，統(tǒng)計(jì)數(shù)據(jù)表明，近20年來，美利堅(jiān)合眾國(guó)第一次實(shí)現(xiàn)國(guó)內(nèi)石油產(chǎn)量超過我們從海外購(gòu)買的石油量。

That's a big deal. That's a tremendous step towards American energy independence.

But this is important, too: we reached this milestone in part not only because we're producing more energy, but because we're wasting less energy.

We set new fuel standards for our cars and trucks so that they'll go twice as far on a gallon of gas by the middle of the next decade.

我們制定了新的汽車燃油標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，實(shí)現(xiàn)未來5年內(nèi)一加侖汽油行駛里程翻一倍的目標(biāo)。

That's going to save an average driver more than $8,000 at the pump over the life of a new car.

這將為每位駕駛員在一輛新車的使用壽命范圍內(nèi)節(jié)省8000多元的油費(fèi)。

We also launched initiatives to put people to work upgrading our homes, businesses, and factories so that they waste less energy.

我們還啟動(dòng)了一項(xiàng)激勵(lì)計(jì)劃，鼓勵(lì)人們改造家用、辦公、工廠的設(shè)施減少能源浪費(fèi)。

That's going to save our businesses money on their energy bills-that's money they can use to hire more workers.

這將為企業(yè)節(jié)省能源支出，他們可以用省下的這些錢招聘員工。

Here's another thing. Between more clean energy, and less wasted energy, our emissions of dangerous carbon pollution are actually falling.

That's good news for anyone who cares about the world we leave to our kids.

And while our carbon emissions have been dropping, our economy has been growing.

在碳排放下降的同時(shí)，我們的經(jīng)濟(jì)卻一直在增長(zhǎng)。

Our businesses have created 7.8 million new jobs in the past 44 months.

私營(yíng)企業(yè)已經(jīng)在過去44個(gè)月里創(chuàng)造了780萬(wàn)個(gè)就業(yè)崗位。

It proves that the old argument that we can't strengthen the economy and be good stewards of our planet at the same time is a false choice.

這充分證明過去說我們不能在保持經(jīng)濟(jì)增長(zhǎng)的同時(shí)保護(hù)好我們的星球的爭(zhēng)論是一個(gè)假命題。

We can do both. And we have to do both.

這兩件事我們可以同時(shí)做好。而且我們必須都做好。

More good jobs.

更多好的就業(yè)崗位。

Cheaper and cleaner sources of energy.

更便宜、更清潔的能源。

A secure energy future.

一個(gè)安全的能源未來。

Thanks to the grit and resilience of American businesses and the American people, that's where we're heading.

感謝堅(jiān)韌不屈的美國(guó)企業(yè)和美國(guó)人民，正是有了你們，我們才能一直前進(jìn)。

And as long as I'm President, that's where we're going to keep heading-to leave our children a stronger economy, and a safer planet.
