大家好，感謝大家的光臨。
Good afternoon!

今天對我來說是一個(gè)重要的日子，無論是對我以往的籃球職業(yè)生涯，還是未來的個(gè)人發(fā)展，都具有特殊的意義。
Today is an important day for me. It is a day of special significance for both my past professional career and future endeavors.

去年年底，我的左腳第三次應(yīng)力性骨折，我不得不離開賽場。半年多以來，和許多關(guān)心我的朋友一樣，我也是在漫長的期待當(dāng)中度過的。這段時(shí)間里，內(nèi)心十分糾結(jié)，反復(fù)思考。為此，今天我要宣布一個(gè)個(gè)人決定：作為籃球運(yùn)動員，我將結(jié)束自己的運(yùn)動生涯，正式退役。
At the end of last year, I once again had a stress fracture in my left foot and had to sit out of basketball. Since then, like many friends who cared about me, I waited and hoped that I could return. It was also a frustrating period, many thoughts crossed my mind. Today, I am ready to announce to everyone my decision: I will end my athletic career and formally retire from the game of basketball.

At this moment, looking towards the future and looking back through the past, my heart is full of gratitude.

我首先要感謝籃球。這項(xiàng)偉大的運(yùn)動為無數(shù)人帶來了快樂，當(dāng)然也包括我自己。四歲我有了第一個(gè)籃球，九歲進(jìn)入徐匯區(qū)少體校，十四歲進(jìn)入上海青年隊(duì)，十六歲背上父親當(dāng)年的號碼，代表上海隊(duì)比賽?；@球使我延續(xù)了家庭的傳承，每每看到父母欣慰的眼神，我都無比自豪；也非常幸運(yùn)能和上海大鯊魚隊(duì)的隊(duì)友們一起為上海贏得了一次CBA總冠軍。從那時(shí)起，籃球把我和身后這座城市聯(lián)系在了一起；同樣在CBA奪冠的2002年，我進(jìn)入NBA，籃球引領(lǐng)我步入了一個(gè)更寬廣的舞臺，使我可以盡情地展現(xiàn)自己；更要感謝能有機(jī)會為中國國家隊(duì)?wèi)?zhàn)十年，那是無數(shù)青年人的夢想；同時(shí)因?yàn)榛@球，與心愛的人結(jié)緣，建立了美滿的家庭，獲得了一生的幸福。所有這些，都是我無比熱愛的籃球運(yùn)動帶給我的，我要感謝籃球。
First and foremost, I want to thank the game of basketball. This great sport has brought joy to untold numbers of people, including myself. When I was four years old, I got my first basketball. At nine, I entered a youth sports school in Xuhui district (in Shanghai).I joined the Shanghai Junior Team at 14. And when I was 16 years old, I put on my dad’s former number, and joined the Shanghai Sharks senior team in competition. Basketball has allowed me to follow in my family’s footsteps. Whenever I see the joy and satisfaction in my parents’ eyes, I feel a strong sense of pride. I was also fortunate to win a CBA Championship with my teammates for the city of Shanghai in 2002. From that moment on, basketball has connected me with this great city. During that same year, I entered the NBA. Basketball has led me to a bigger and broader stage to showcase my abilities. It’s a dream for many to play for the National Team. So in fulfilling my dream, I am especially grateful of the opportunity to play for my country for so many years. And because of basketball, I have found the love of my life Ye Li, and a lifetime of happiness. Basketball has given me so much and for this, I want to thank the game of basketball.
我還要感謝生活。無論我所熱愛的籃球，還是別的什么東西，都是生活的一部分。我覺得生活就像一個(gè)向?qū)В泸\地追隨他，他就會為你打開一扇又一扇的門，而門外的世界各不相同，無比精彩。今天我退役了，一扇門已經(jīng)關(guān)上，而另一扇門卻正在徐徐開啟，而門外有嶄新的生活正在等著我去認(rèn)真品讀。
I also want to thank life. No matter if it’s my beloved basketball or other endeavors. It is all just a part of life. I believe life is like a guide. If you follow him faithfully, he will open doors to wonderful worlds for you. Today, I am retired from basketball, and one of those doors is closed. But elsewhere, another door is opening and outside that door is a new world waiting for me to experience and explore.

我雖然離開了賽場，但我不會離開籃球。上海東方大鯊魚籃球隊(duì)，將就是我籃球生涯的延續(xù)，我正在學(xué)習(xí)用我的方式管理俱樂部，以這種方式繼續(xù)為家鄉(xiāng)帶來榮譽(yù)，為球迷帶來快樂，為中國籃球繼續(xù)做貢獻(xiàn)。
Even though I am leaving the basketball court, I will not leave the game. The Shanghai Sharks team is how my professional life will continue. I am continuing to learn about managing and running the team and will do my best to bring honor and glory to my hometown and to Chinese basketball.

我將繼續(xù)投身社會公益事業(yè)，“姚基金”是我個(gè)人的基金會，已經(jīng)成立三年了，接下來我會以此為依托，影響更多的人參與慈善事業(yè)，幫助更多的人。同時(shí)，我希望結(jié)識更多的朋友，一起做些共同喜歡的事情。相信在和各行各業(yè)的有識之士的交往中，我會學(xué)到更多的東西。豐富多彩的生活引領(lǐng)著我從上海走向了全國，從中國走向了世界，所以我要感謝生活。今后，唯有認(rèn)真對待他，才是對生活最好的回報(bào)。
I will continue my philanthropic work. The Yao Foundation has been established for three years now. I will work with the foundation to influence more people to join philanthropic activities to help others. I wish to meet and work with new and old friends on projects of mutual interest. I believe that through meeting and working with people from different fields and professions, I can gain new knowledge and new understandings. Life has guided me from Shanghai to China, from China to the world. I want to thank life and continue to repay my good fortune by embracing and treasuring every moment.

最后，我要感謝我的親人，感謝所有的朋友。 我這里有一份長長的名單，但由于時(shí)間的原因，不能一一提及。只能選讀其中的代表，還望朋友們多多諒解。我首先感謝的是我的家人，父親、母親是我人生的啟蒙者，葉莉是我最好的傾聽者，而可愛的姚沁蕾則是我們新的希望。
Finally, I want to thank the many special people in my life, my family and my friends. I have a long list of people. But due to time, I can only mention a few here. I am missing a lot of names, but I hope my friends will understand. First, I want to thank my family. My parents were my first teachers in life. My wife, Ye Li is my best friend and best listener. Our lovely daughter, Amy, is our new hope for the future.

I also want to thank my coaches. They educated and guided me and have watched overme every step of way. I want to thank my first coach Li Zhang ming, coaches Li Qiu ping, Wang Qun, and Wang Chongguang from the Shanghai Sharks, coach Ma Lianbao with the Chinese National Junior team, head coaches Wang Fei, Jiang Xingquan, Del Harris, and Jonas Kazlauskas from the Chinese National Team, and head coaches Rudy Tomjanovich, Jeff Van Gundy, and Rick Adelman with the Houston Rockets. I also wish to thank officials and organizations that have helped me, especially officials from National Sports Administration, city of Shanghai, China Basketball Association, Shanghai Sports Administration, the Shanghai Media Group, and Shanghai Oriental Basketball Club (Shanghai Sharks). It is through their care, interest, support, and encouragement that allowed me to develop and reach where I am today. I want to thank the NBA and the Houston Rockets. Their understanding and support helped me overcome the language and cultural barrierto play in the highest level basketball games in the world.

Next, I want to thank all of my teammates and opponents. First is Liu Wei. We grew up together, played and battled together, and those experiences are some of my most precious memories in life. I also want to thank Wang Zhizhi and Shaquille O’Neal. They were the benchmark players that I was chasing after. They motivated me and pushed me forward, and without them, I would not be the player I am today. I want to thank Fan Bin, my friend and mentor on the National team; Shen Wei, Jia Xiaozhong, Zhang Wenqi, Li Nan, Mengke Bateer, Yi Jianlian, Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, Tracy McGrady, Shane Battier, Dikembe Mutombo, ChuckHayes, Luis Scola, Aaron Brooks, Kyle Lowry, as well as all of my former teammates from the Xuhui District Youth Sports School, the Shanghai Sharks Junior team, the Shanghai Sharks, the National Junior Team, the Chinese National Team, and the Houston Rockets, and of course all my opponents in CBA and NBA who I played against. The time we spent sweating and competing will forever be etched in my memory.

我曾經(jīng)說過，有一天我的籃球職業(yè)生涯結(jié)束了，我希望那只是個(gè)逗號，不是句號。今天，這一天終于到來了，但我沒有離開心愛的籃球，我的生活還在繼續(xù)，我還是姚明，我還有很多事情要做，遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)沒有到畫上句號的那一天。
I have once said, when I retire from my professional career, I hope that it is a comma, not a period. Today, that day has finally arrived, but I am not leaving the sport of basketball that I love. My life will continue. I am still Yao Ming and there are still many things that I wish to accomplish. The day of drawing a period is still far far away.

Today is animportant day for me. For myself, my basketball career and the personal growthin the future, it has a particular meaning.

At the end oflast year I broke my left foot for a third time. I had to leave the basketballcourt, and spent the last half of the year waiting, just as many of those whocare about me. During that period, I struggled a lot in my heart and thought alot. Now I am going to announce a personal decision: I am going to end mycareer as a basketball player and officially retire.

Looking backon the past and right into the future, I am deeply grateful.

First I'dlike to thank basketball. This great sport has brought joys to so many people,including me. I had my first basketball when I was four. I entered the SportsSchool of Xuhui District of Shanghai when I was nine and entered the ShanghaiBasketball Youth Team at 14. At 16, I began playing for Shanghai BasketballTeam, wearing my father's number. I inherited my family's tradition by playingbasketball. I feel so proud every time I look into the eyes of my parents, whoare proud of me. I feel very honored to have the opportunity to win the CBAtitle in 2002 with Shanghai Shark teammates, which has linked us all to thiscity behind. Basketball also led me on a greater stage when I entered NBA thatyear. I could play with all I had. What's more, I feel thankful that I had theopportunity to fight together with the national team for 10 years, which ismany young players' dream, and through which I got to know and married mybeloved woman, and made a happy family and obtained the happiness of my life.All of these are brought by my love, basketball. I want to thank basketball.

I would alsolike to thank life. No matter my favorite basketball or something else, theyare all parts of the life. Life is like a guide. When you sincerely follow it,it will open one and another door for you and the world outside of them is sodifferent and exciting. Today, I retired. The door of basketball is closed, butanother door has just opened which will lead me to a new life waiting for me toexperience. I will continue to participate in social welfare in the future. Yao Fund is my personalfund, which has been established for three years. And in the coming future, Iwill take this as the basis and call on more people to get involved in charityand help more people. And at the same time, I wish to know more friends hereand to do some things together with you. I believe the exchanges with all ofyou will teach me more things that will also enrich my life and help me tostart from Shanghai to the whole country, from China to the whole world, soI’ll thank life. And in the coming future, to take it seriously will be thebest reward to life.

At last, Iwant to thank my family and all my friends. I have a very long name list here,but for time limit, I can only mention some of you, please forgive me. FirstlyI want to thank my family member, parents, who are the enlightenment to me, YeLi is also the best listener. I also want to thank my coaches, who havewitnessed every step of my growth, including my mentor, all coachesin Shanghai Sharks, and the coaches in national team, in Rockets, and formermanager. I also want to thank all leaders, especially State GeneralAdministration of Sports, especially State General Administration of Sports,Shanghai Basketball Association, Shanghai Sports Bureau, Shanghai WenguangGroup and leaders from Shanghai Sharks. I’d like to extend my gratitude to my teammates andopponents. First of all, Liu Wei. We have grown up together as teammates, andthis will be the most precious experience in my life. Wang Zhizhi and ShaquilleO'Neal, it is your presence that keeps me endeavoring to catch up to you and you are always mytargets. Without you two, I could not make such an achievement.
