古德明《征服英語》之英語軍事故事，古德明，香港英語教育作家，他開了一個《征服英語專欄》，在專欄中專門用英語寫了世界近代史上的軍事小故事，用英語講述歷史中那些驚心動魄的戰爭。
「叛國」英雄
Sophie Scholl was a Munich University student who died in 1943 for her involvement in the White Rose, an anti-Nazi organisation.The core members of the White Rose initially included Hans Scholl, Sophie's brother and a medical student, and Christoph Probast. Hans had been keen to keep Sophie unaware of his activities, but once she discovered them, she joined them, and proved valuable to the group: as a woman, her chances of being randomly stopped by the SS were smaller. She and her brother were arrested in February 1943. On 22 February, they were found guilty of treason, and beheaded by guillotine on the same day. Her last words were:"Such a fine, sunny day, and I have to go, but what does my death matter if through us people are awakened.
"索菲．舍爾是慕尼黑大學學生，因參與反納粹組織白玫瑰，一九四三年去世。白玫瑰最初的主要成員包括漢斯．舍爾以及克里斯托．普羅巴特。漢斯是索菲的兄長，并是醫科學生，最初努力隱瞞自己的活動，不讓妹妹知道，但索菲發現之后，馬上加入，對白玫瑰的工作貢獻良多：由于她是女人，被納粹黨衛軍偶然截著搜查的危險較小。一九四三年二月，她和漢斯一起被捕，二月二十二日，被判叛國罪，即日送上斷頭臺。索菲死前說了一句話：「多么晴朗美好的一天，我卻要去了。但假如別人因我們而醒覺，一死算得什么。」
