兩枚炸彈的故事
in 1940, at the height of the blitz, a british police officer found in a busy street a huge unexploded bomb. he cordoned off the area, and stood alone next to the bomb to warn people to stay away. he was last seen by a journalist before the bomb went off. nobody else was hurt, but the body of the police officer was never found.in another case, when a bomb disposal team tried to defuse an unexploded bomb, they found that the fuse system had been replaced with cement. the casing of the bomb bore the name of a czech factory. clearly, czech workers, whose country had been conquered by the nazis even before the war had begun, were risking their lives to save people they would never know
一九四○年，德國大舉空襲倫敦期間，英國一名警察在繁忙的街道上，看見一枚未爆炸的巨型炸彈。他把附近一帶封鎖，獨自站在炸彈旁邊，警告大家不要接近。炸彈爆炸之前，最后見到他的是一位記者。那警察的尸體沒有人找到，其他人則一個都沒有受傷。又有一次，有炸彈拆除隊要拆除一枚未爆炸彈的引信，卻發覺引信系統換了水泥。炸彈殼上有一家捷克工廠的名字。捷克早在第二次世界大戰之前，已被納粹德國侵占。但很明顯，捷克工人為免傷害他們永遠不會認識的人，不怕冒生命危險。＊ blitz是德文 blitzkrieg的縮寫，意思是「閃電戰」，指迅速的大規模進攻，務求一舉打敗對方。 the blitz一般指一九四○年德國對倫敦的空襲。
