周朝時有一個人非常喜歡穿皮衣服，還愛吃精美的飯食。他打算縫制一件價值昂貴的狐貍皮袍子，于是就與狐貍商量說：“把你們的毛皮送給我?guī)讖埌伞保傄宦牐拥缴搅掷锶チ恕Ｋ窒朕k一桌肥美的羊肉宴席，于是去找羊說：“請幫幫我的忙，把你們的肉割下二斤，我準備辦宴席”，沒等他說完，羊就嚇得狂呼亂叫，互相報信，一齊鉆進樹林里藏了起來。這樣，那人十年也沒縫成一件狐貍皮袍子，五年也沒辦成一桌羊肉宴席。
這個故事原來叫“與狐謀皮”， 后來轉(zhuǎn)化成“與虎謀皮”，比喻跟惡人商量要他犧牲自己的利益，那是絕對辦不到的。
