15:1 毯螅人以利法回答說,Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
15:2 智慧人豈可用虛空的知識回答,用東風充滿肚腹呢。
Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
15:3 他豈可用無益的話,和無濟于事的言語,理論呢。
Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
15:4 你是廢棄敬畏的意,在神面前阻止敬虔的心。
Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
15:5 你的罪孽指教你的口。你選用詭詐人的舌頭。
For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
15:6 你自己的口定你有罪,并非是我。你自己的嘴,見證你的不是。
Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
15:7 你豈是頭一個被生的人嗎。你受造在諸山之先嗎。
Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
15:8 你曾聽見神的密旨嗎。你還將智慧獨自得盡嗎。
Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
15:9 你知道什么是我們不知道的呢。你明白什么是我們不明白的呢。
What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?
15:10 我們這里有白發的,和年紀老邁的,比你父親還老。
With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.
15:11 神用溫和的話安慰你,你以為太小嗎。
Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
15:12 你的心為何將你逼去。你的眼為何冒出火星。
Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
15:13 使你的靈反對神,也任你的口發這言語。
That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?
15:14 人是什么,竟算為潔凈呢。婦人所生的是什么,竟算為義呢。
What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
15:15 神不信靠他的眾圣者。在他眼前,天也不潔凈。
Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
15:16 何況那污穢可憎,喝罪孽如水的世人呢。
How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
15:17 我指示你,你要聽。我要述說所看見的。
I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;
15:18 就是智慧人從列祖所受,傳說而不隱瞞的。
Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:
15:19 (這地惟獨賜給他們,并沒有外人從他們中間經過)。
Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.
15:20 惡人一生之日劬勞痛苦,強暴人一生的年數也是如此。
The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
15:21 驚嚇的聲音常在他耳中。在平安時,搶奪的必臨到他那里。
A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
15:22 他不信自己能從黑暗中轉回,他被刀劍等候。
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
15:23 他漂流在外求食,說,那里有食物呢。他知道黑暗的日子,在他手邊預備好了。
He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
15:24 急難困苦叫他害怕,而且勝了他,好像君王預備上陣一樣。
Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
15:25 他伸手攻擊神,以驕傲攻擊全能者。
For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
15:26 挺著頸項,用盾牌的厚凸面,向全能者直闖。
He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
15:27 是因他的臉蒙上脂油,腰積成肥肉。
Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
15:28 他曾住在荒涼城邑,無人居住,將成亂堆的房屋。
And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.
15:29 他不得富足,財物不得常存,產業在地上也不加增。
He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.
15:30 他不得出離黑暗。火焰要將他的枝子燒乾。因神口中的氣,他要滅亡(滅亡原文作走去)。
He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
15:31 他不用倚靠虛假欺哄自己,因虛假必成為他的報應。
Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
15:32 他的日期未到之先,這事必成就。他的枝子不得青綠。
It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.
15:33 他必像葡萄樹的葡萄,未熟而落。又像橄欖樹的花,一開而謝。
He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.
15:34 原來不敬虔之輩必無生育。受賄賂之人的帳棚必被火燒。
For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
15:35 他們所懷的是毒害,所生的是罪孽,心里所豫備的是詭詐。
They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
