Experts studied 230 pictures of majorleaguebaseball players printed in the 1952 BaseballRegister。

The researchers ranked each player accordingtowhether they had no smile at all, a partial smile, where onlythemuscles around the mouth were involved, or a full-blown smilethatfeatured a toothy grin, raised cheeks and creases around theeyes.The researchers then compared the photos with the life span ofeachplayer。
專家們按隊員們的笑容進行等級分類,分別是“一點都不笑”,“笑了一點兒”,“微笑時嘴部肌肉有抽動”或是“笑的合不攏嘴”,以及“揚起臉,眼睛都笑出了皺紋”等這幾個分類。然后他們把這些照片與隊員們的壽命進行了比較。
The results revealed that of the 184 playersthathad since died, those in the no smile category had livedanaverage of 72.9 years。
