to the Asia-Pacific region,and to our world as we enter a new century and a new millennium.
美中關系對我們兩國、對亞太地區、對我們的世界都是至關重要的。
Our common interests transcend the issues that keep us apart.
我們的共同利益超越了我們的分歧。
China is currently undergoing the most immense changes in its long history.
中國正經歷著其悠久歷史中最重大的變革，
A modern,prosperous,stable China is in the interest of the United States,
一個繁榮、穩定的現代中國符合美國的利益，
as is China's rights covenants,non-proliferation agreements,
中國加入世界貿易組織、國際人權公約、
and fora for the peaceful resolution of security issues in the Asia-Pacific region.
不擴散條約以及和平解決亞太地區安全問題論壇都符合美國利益。
With different histories,priorities,and cultures,
由于不同的歷史、價值觀和文化，我們之間不可避免地會存在分歧，
there will inevitably be differences between usbut I am confident the U.S.and China can advance our relationsin an atmosphere of mutual respect and understangding.
