舊約 -- 箴言(Proverbs) -- 第4章
4:1 眾子阿,要聽父親的教訓(xùn),留心得知聰明。
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
4:2 因我所給你們的,是好教訓(xùn)。不可離棄我的法則。(或作指教)
For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
4:3 我在父親面前為孝子,在母親眼中為獨(dú)一的嬌兒。
For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
4:4 父親教訓(xùn)我說,你心要存記我的言語,遵守我的命令,便得存活。
He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
4:5 要得智慧,要得聰明。不可忘記,也不可偏離我口中的言語。
Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
4:6 不可離棄智慧,智慧就護(hù)衛(wèi)你。要愛他,他就保守你。
Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
4:7 智慧為首。所以要得智慧。在你一切所得之內(nèi),必得聰明。(或作用你一切所得的去換聰明)
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
4:8 高舉智慧,他就使你高升。懷抱智慧,他就使你尊榮。
Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
4:9 他必將華冠加在你頭上,把榮冕交給你。
She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
4:10 我兒,你要聽受我的言語,就必延年益壽。
Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
4:11 我已指教你走智慧的道,引導(dǎo)你行正直的路。
I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
4:12 你行走,腳步必不致狹窄。你奔跑,也不致跌倒。
When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
4:13 要持定訓(xùn)誨,不可放松。必當(dāng)謹(jǐn)守,因?yàn)樗悄愕纳?/p>
Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
4:14 不可行惡人的路。不可走壞人的道。
Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
4:15 要躲避,不可輕過。要轉(zhuǎn)身而去。
Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
4:16 這等人若不行惡,不得睡覺。不使人跌倒,睡臥不安。
For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
4:17 因?yàn)樗麄円约閻撼燥?,以?qiáng)暴喝酒。
For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
4:18 但義人的路,好像黎明的光,越照越明,直到日午。
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
4:19 惡人的道好像幽暗。自己不知因什嗎跌倒。
The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
4:20 我兒,要留心聽我的言詞,側(cè)耳聽我的話語。
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
4:21 都不可離你的眼目。要存記在你心中。
Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
4:22 因?yàn)榈弥?,就得了生命,又得了醫(yī)全體的良藥。
For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
4:23 你要保守你心,勝過保守一切。(或作你要切切保守你心)因?yàn)橐簧墓В怯尚陌l(fā)出。
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
4:24 你要除掉邪僻的口,棄絕乖謬的嘴。
Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
4:25 你的眼目,要向前升看,你的眼睛,(原文作皮)當(dāng)向前直觀。
Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
4:26 要修平你腳下的路,堅(jiān)定你一切的道。
Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
4:27 不可偏向左右。要使你的腳離開邪惡。
Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
