Two Americans were travelling in spain.One moring they came into a little restaurant for lunch. They
did not know Spanish, and their waiter did not know English. They wanted him to understand that they
wanted some milk and sandwiches.
At first they pronouced the word "milk" many times. times. Then they spelled it. But the waiter could
not understand them.
At last one of them took a piece of paper and began to draw a cow. He was finishing his drawing, when
the waiter looked at it and ran out of the restaurant. "Do you see," said one of the travellers, "what
a pencil can do for a man who has difficulties in a foreign country?"
The waiter was back again some time after, but he brought no milk.
He put down in front of the two men tickcts for a bullfight.
兩個(gè)美國(guó)人在西班牙旅游。一天上午，他們來(lái)到一家小餐館吃中飯。他們不懂西班牙語(yǔ)，而他們的侍者不懂英語(yǔ)。
兩個(gè)美國(guó)人想讓侍者明白他們想要一些牛奶和三明治。
他們說(shuō)了好幾遍“牛奶”，然后又拼寫(xiě)，但侍者還是不明白他們的意思。
最后，他們中的一個(gè)拿出了一張紙，開(kāi)始畫(huà)一頭牛。當(dāng)他畫(huà)完的時(shí)候，侍者一看便跑出了餐館。
“你瞧，” 他們中的一個(gè)說(shuō)，“一只鉛筆對(duì)一個(gè)在國(guó)外遇到麻煩的人來(lái)說(shuō)多么有用！”
一會(huì)兒后，侍者返回來(lái)了，但是他沒(méi)有拿來(lái)牛奶。他在這兩個(gè)人面前放下了兩長(zhǎng)斗牛券。
